So you coupon? I'm trying...
My sister back in Indiana has started couponing. She asked me to try it. And well, I have (in the past), but I never got those amazing results that the pros out there do. My sister insisted I try again. So I am... But I figured I will share what I am learning along the way. Maybe it will inspire someone else to save some money.
So first thing first. Where do you get coupons? Well, of course the Sunday paper. If you don't want to pay for the paper, go to your local animal shelter! The waxy coating of the coupons cannot be used, as they are not absorbent. So, if you ask you may get TONS of coupons for free that way! Another great place to get coupons is the Internet. I use:
http://www.coupons.com/
http://www.redplum.com/
http://www.afullcup.com/
http://www.pgeveryday.com/
These are great sites to get high value coupons. When you start couponing, you should also look for the stores that offer to double your coupon. That is how you start to stack on the savings! To add even more savings, take the time to look at your local circulars (of the stores that double coupons) and see what they have on sale that you have coupons for! Also try going to your favorite brands websites. Such as Cambell's, on-cor, Uncle Ben, Lipton, etc.
Last week was my first week really trying it out. I SAVED $60. It was pretty exciting watching my total go down. Now like I said, I am still a couponing toddler! But there are tons of great blogs out there with lots of useful tips! Good luck in your money savings adventures! Feel free to check out my other blogs! Back in September, I had one that teaches you how to make your own laundry soap for under $10! There is another one that shows you how to make homemade bath paint for your kiddos!
Be blessed! See you soon! Oh! please subscribe and share my blog!

Stretch your Groceries!
Last night my family decided to have a nice breakfast for Dinner. We had pancakes, sausage, and scrambled eggs. Yumm! So as I was finishing cooking all this, I grabbed the syrup. (cue dramatic music here! DUM DUM DUM!)And we had about 1/4 of a cup left. I know we have all done this. So I grabbed a small pot. Added about 1 1/2 cups water, and waited for it to get to a gentle boil. I added about 1 1/2 cups white sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla, and added what maple syrup I had. I let it boil until all the granules of sugar where gone. Let it cool a little bit, and wha-la! Pancake syrup!.
Let me tell you, I was skeptical. I thought I just ruined what little good syrup we had in the house. But, I didn't! It was very thin. However the flavor was great. And, because it was so thin, it absorbed immediately into the pancakes. Everyone agreed this is how we do syrup now! So I should be able to get two bottle of syrup for one now! you really can't beat it!
A hint, If you like a thicker syrup, use and extra cup of sugar and let it boil a little longer. not to long though or you will end up with rock candy!
If this is your first time at my blog, and you are worried about you super picky kids and using this money saving tip, Mine are 3 1/2 and 8. They looked at me like I was crazy for a minute. But they of course tried it because it's pancakes and they LOVED it! They preferred it even! So give it a try! Don't forget to subscribe please!
God Bless! Have a Happy Thursday!

Ding Dong! Avon calling! (or Not) Getting the sales...
So despite my best efforts, my first campaign with Avon was .... not what I was hoping for. My goal was $250 in sales. My actual sales where $90. So, in an effort to boost my sales for the coming campaign I decided to try door to door to get customers... well, here is how that went.

Door one. The sweetest little lady you could ever want to meet! invited into her home. Showed me her handmade jewelry! So, we have somethings in common! She is a new customer.
Door two. As soon as I said Avon she asked me if My vision was bad... Why? because she doesn't use make up. will never use make up and told me how bad it is for you.... but wished me success in my endeavors! ;)
Door three. Not home, Knew I was a "sales Lady", or otherwise indisposed... take your pick! :)
So I am not going to lie. I have not sold anything door to door since I was in elementary school, selling fundraiser stuff to the neighbors on my block. I felt out of my element, even back then. I may try the door to door again, only because of fabulous door number one.
What I want to know is, how many of you would actually buy from a very non-pushy, friendly Avon rep that just knocked on your door and offered a brochure? seriously! I want to know! comment below and tell me your thoughts! I know everyone hates most sales people that knock on the door. But a nice, local, Avon lady? is that different?
And go! Don't forget to subscribe! thanks in advance!

Hi there! I wanted to share with you the amazing products the Avon has developed for your skin. I know I will not get to all of them in this blog, but, I can give you a little taste!
First things first. What do you do to take care of your skin everyday? Did you know that 97% of dermatologists recommend a skin regimen that includes a cleanser, a moisturizing day cream with SPF, and moisturizing night cream, and an eye cream? It is recommended to wash your face with a cleanser twice a day! Once in the morning. and then at night. Now if you are like me, all that washing will dry your face out like no other. So after your morning wash you should put on some moisturizing day cream with an SPF to protect you from the sun's damaging rays. Finish up your morning routine by making sure your eyes have what they need. Let's face it, the eye's start showing the first signs of ageing! At 28 years old I started noticing the fine lines of crows feet. I'm all over those babies now! :) You nightly routine should be the same as above except you'll want to use your night cream instead of your day cream. And don't forget to moisturize your neck and upper chest! If you are using an anti aging regimen it will help prevent the sagging under you chin and tighten the skin on you upper chest.
Now, on to my challenge. I am challenging you, my friends, to try an Avon skin care line that suits your needs. No worries! It's a 100 % satisfaction guarantee! And just to let you know right now two week sets of the Anew line are on sale for $25!! (at www.youravon.com/cjowens) So, If it doesn't do as well, or BETTER, than your current products, or (if you do not currently have a regimen) so not see improvements in your skin in say, two weeks of using a Avon regimen of your choice, send it back! No harm done.
Now this is where I am going to tell you a little about each line of products that Avon offers for skin care.
Want to fight the signs of aging?
Then Avon anew line is for you! These specially formulated products Are the top of the line! They are made from quality ingredients that work! This line has the perfect regimen for your type of skin, and degree of damage to your skin. each regimen includes a facial cleanser, day and night cream, and eye treatment. These sets all work together to maximize the effect of the products to make your skin look and feel younger.

They have recently released a new product to the line that is called Anew Clinical Pro Line Eraser Treatment. This product is for any age group. And features Break through technology called A-F33. Avon has spent years and millions of dollars perfecting this product. They are the first to use this technology . What it does is turn off the collagen blocking cells and turns up the collagen production. this leads to the elasticity and cushion of your skin returning for an all around youthful looking skin.

This is what you can expect from the Anew line! The latest and greatest technology to help you turn back the clock, or delay the clock, to have no body believing your age! ( By the way! they are all on sale right now! to try your new regimen go to www.youravon.com/cjowens. You also get free shipping on all orders over $30!)

It's been a while!
Hi all! Sorry it's been almost a month! I have been busy! First, my oldest daughter wants to be in girls scouts. While signing her up, I was asked to be a Troop leader! I am pretty excited about it! However, I was NEVER a girl scout! I have no idea what to do with these girls! So give me your ideas!
I also just started selling Avon too! I am super excited about the limitless possibilities with this company! I have grown up with Avon, as many of you have. I learned how to do my make up with Avon Cosmetics! So I have a love, love relationship with Avon. I love Avon products, and Avon loves my money! In all seriousness, Avon products are quality products. I actually prefer Avon make up over Mary Kay. And yes, I have used both. I find the Avon is cheaper, and I prefer the way Avon make up blends together for a more natural look. So with this little blurb about my new business, If you are interested in Avon, and do not have a Sales Rep. feel free to check out my web site, www.youravon.com/cjowens I will be doing product reveiws and listing the sales and such each campaign. So, be sure to subscribe to my blog to find out the latest Avon news!
Don't fret, I am still making my jewelry! I will have a sneak peak of my latest creations tomorrow. :)
Alright, the hubby wants my attention, so I will be back tomorrow!
God Bless!

Homemade bath paints!!!
Hey friends! So for those of you with kids, I just did a fun, quick little craft time with my kidos! They had a blast! We MADE bath paints! :)))I felt I should share with all of you! So, first things first. Your shopping list is below:
What you will need:
- some sort of smallish, plastic containers. I found storage cups at Micheal's. They came in a pack of 9 (1.6 fl oz per cup) for about $5
- food coloring!
- baby wash or shampoo ( I used Lullabies from Walmart $1)
- cornstarch ( great value for $1.25)
So what do you do now?
Well.... make a mess with your kids of course! :)
First, pour some baby wash/shampoo into your containers. ** There will be stirring! Leave some room! (about 3/4 full)
Next, add about 1/2 tsp of cornstarch to the baby wash.
Then, have your kids stir it gently. Make sure it is mixed really well so there are no lumps.
Now it's time to add your coloring! Add as much or as little as you like. Don't forget to play with the colors! Have your kids mix different colors to see what colors they can come up with!
Below is a photo of my beautiful princesses in a "goofy" moment after finishing our first set of colors!
This little project can help your kids discover all the different color combinations that you can make with the primary colors. It also helps with kids who do not like bath time. And saves you money on all those bath paints and crayons (Ya know, the ones that don"t easily come off of the tub?). It's also great family fun! So, Have fun and enjoy a "clean" mess!

Save some cash by using some of your spare time!
Good morning everyone! So, in my first blog I said I wanted to cover a few different topics. One topic? SAVING MONEY!!!! So I figured I would start with this one pretty simple tip.
MAKE YOUR OWN LAUNDRY SOAP!!!
I started making my own laundry soap about 9 months ago. I can tell you I have cleaner cloths and have saved at least $150 dollars already! For six months worth of supplies to make this laundry I spent about $10 at Walmart. How much do you spend for laundry soap a month? 15-25 dollars? how bout six months of soap for less than what you pay for a month! And it WORKS!!!! My opinion, (and my moms now!) IT works better than the leading brand you pay top dollar for!
-safe for front loaders (don't be fooled by the minimal soap suds! It's working!)
-three trusted ingredients
-gentle enough for most babies
-cost less than $10!!!!!!
Directions:
You will need:
1/3 Fels-naptha bar soap (its in the laundry aisle)
1cup arm and hammer super washing soda
1/2 cup 20 mule borax
Essential oil ( optional)
Bring four cups of water to boil in a
large pot.
Shred 1/3 bar soap and add it to the boiling water
Stir in 1 cup washing soda
Stir in 1/2 borax
Stir constantly until it's all dissolved. About ten minutes. Give or take a few minutes. The mixture will be slightly thickened and a soapy color. Once it's all dissolved pour mix into a large bucket. ( I cleaned out my 10 quart mop bucket) add one gallon of water to the mixture. This is where you should add a few drops of essential oil if you like. Be careful! A little goes a long way!
Stir mixture well and pour into the storage container of your choice. I used two old laundry detergent bottles. ;) let it set for 24 hours and Just stir it up/ shake it to mix it all up. And your good to go. I got all the ingredients at walmart in the laundry isle for about $10.
After I posted this on my Facebook page a friend gave me a couple more suggestions for laundry SOFTENER! The one I use is buy a bottle of your favorite LIQUID laundry softener and a non scrubby sponge. Cut the sponge in half. In a bucket, with a lid for storage,(less than $5 at home depot) put two cups of liquid laundry softener and about 2 litters of water. Mix well and through the sponge in the bucket. It's ready to use! Whenever you are ready to use it just wring the sponge out a bit and throw it in with cloths in the drier! It's that easy!
My friend also suggested a vinegar rinse. "Get cleaner laundry! Add about 1/4 cup white distilled vinegar to the last rinse. The acid in white distilled vinegar is too mild to harm fabrics, yet strong enough to dissolve the alkalies in soaps and detergents. Besides removing soap, white distilled vinegar prevents yellowing, acts as a fabric softener and static cling reducer, and attacks mold and mildew." - http://www.vinegartips.com

The Basics of ME!
First of all, HI! and Welcome! This will be my first blog post ever! I hope I don't bore you. My main goal with this blog is to let people know who I am. With that being said I suppose I should get started.
My name is Jessica Owens. I recently married the man of dreams (that's why the name is different) I am currently 28 years old. My husband and I have three of the best children that anyone could ask for! Two girls and one boy, and one brother dog!
I live in Connecticut. However, I was born and raised in Indiana. I have two brothers and one sister. My sister is the oldest of us all, and has four of the coolest kids ever! ( I my be a little bias...) I have a little brother that is currently a senior in high school. And my twin brother.... I have lots of stories to share on growing up with a twin that is the exact opposite of you. But I 'll save that for later.
My parents where divorced when I was young. My father never remarried. My mom did. That's how I met NANA! Nana is my (step) Grandma. She got me into crafting , drawing, painting, knitting,... the list goes on. She is a big part of who I am as a crafter today.
I now create jewelry. I have found that I LOVE wire and pearls! They are my favorite medium so far. My style of jewelry is quite varied. So far I have done classic designs with pearls. My favorite is posted above. A little punk rock mixed with a bit of elegance as pictured below.
And my latest is a bit abstract...
So as you can see, my styles I create are as varied as the people who wear them! I Love It!
To sum it up, I am a wife, mother, daughter, grand daughter, sister, aunt, crafter, jewelry designer (self proclaimed) and business owner. That is the basics of me.
If you happen to like my jewelry posted here, all three of them are listed at my shop on etsy.com. the linkj to my shop is below.

My posts following this one will be more about where I get my inspirations for my crafts and jewelry, links to tutorials to make your own stuff, and probably some of the things I do to save money for my household. Because who doesn't like to save money right?! I will attempt to do at least one blog a week.
Hope to see you all here again!
